2 Day Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 for backcountry touring. This course is reserved for Silver Star staff. January 13th and 16th

Day 1 (Jan 13th) 8:30am – 4:00pm – NATC Indoor theory day with some outdoor learning for basic rescue techniques.
Day 2 (Jan 16th) 8:00am – 4:00pm – Field Day (meet outside NATC).

An alternative field day is available on Febuary 1st. Please call or email to arrange this option.

This 2 day course is your ticket to winter fun & adventure in the backcountry.  It’s perfect for those interested in learning more about backcountry safety, sledding in avalanche terrain, terrain assessment and snowpack evaluation.

Required course equipment:
-Digital 3 antenna transceiver, shovel and probe. *Rentals available.
-Airbags are not mandatory. But Please bring a backpack to carry avalanche safety equipment.
-Alpine Skis or Snowboard are acceptable for this in-bounds field day.
